Field Experience
I think the newness of me being in the classroom had worn off. One of the students had a melt down that day. The students had seemed to be on their best behavior while I was in the room. However, on this day the students were showing their true colors.
In the time I usually would attend the class, they had group centers, individual worksheets, and then recess time. They were not allowed to go out to recess until they have finished their individual worksheet packets, which they started in the morning.
The young lady I observed, did not want to finish her packet. The teacher was sympathetic and understanding, yet firm. The teacher continued to encourage her to do what she knew she needed to while trying to help the student recognize and understand what was bothering her.
Eventually the girl was able to come to recess and play with the other students. It did take her longer than normal to complete her work, but she did eventually finish. This teacher is AMAZING!
